The Challenge
A leading South Indian university wanted to overhaul its placement program. Their previous model — lecture-heavy, zero mentorship, no industry exposure — had produced a dismal 38% placement rate the prior year. Students reported feeling unprepared and anxious about entering the workforce.
The institution needed more than mock interviews. They needed a systematic, wellness-aware mentorship system that built real portfolios, real confidence, and real career readiness.
Our Approach
We deployed the full Nexus Residency framework across two campuses simultaneously:
- Micro-cohorts of 15: Students grouped by interest — Data Science/ML, MERN Full-Stack, HR & Recruitment, Finance, and Sales.
- Industry capstones: Each cohort tackled a live industrial project under senior EarEase-Tech architects, building portfolio-worthy deliverables.
- Freelancing accelerator: Weekly workshops on client communication, proposal writing, and drop-servicing fundamentals.
- Guided rituals: Morning breathwork sessions, time-management sprints, and monthly travel therapy outings to break monotony and build resilience.
- Alumni council: Graduating students joined the Nexus Alumni Network for lifetime access to referrals and collaboration opportunities.
The Results
Over the 16-week residency:
- 94% completion rate (up from 71% in the previous year's program)
- 62 job offers across the cohort, with 23 students receiving multiple offers
- 14 students launched freelance practices within 60 days of graduation
- Student wellbeing scores rose by 37% compared to the control group
- The university renewed the partnership for 3 additional semesters
